1. Pages Study Book (Jamie Clark) Find out how students can create their own interactive study books in Pages! Learn how stunning teacher templates can be edited by students and allow them to demonstrate their learning through photography, video, text and sketching. Come along to Jamie’s session to pick up some design tips and practical advice on how to structure and implement this simple tool.
2. Developing & Using Effective Multiple-choice (James Ramsey) In this forum, James will share how you can develop high-quality multiple-choice questions to collect and interpret evidence relating to student learning and then respond in the heat of the lesson. Discover how diagnostic and hinge multiple choice questions allow you to identify and understand student mistakes and misconceptions in an efficient and accurate manner to determine whether to move on, recap or completely re-teach a concept. James will cover the key features of an effective multiple-choice question and how you can use this strategy in your class every day.
3. Learning Launchpads (Filipa Carvalho & Mark Stephens) With so many learning resources in different places, it is very easy to lose track of where everything is. For all of its notoriety, Onenote has the ability to keep many different types of resources on a single page. This helps to maintain context and concentration, giving students an effective way to keep track of their learning. Come to this session to see how Filipa, Mark and Jamie have used OneNote to help students capture their learning journey.
4. Apple Numbers for Feedback (Claire Hall) In this forum, Claire will show you how to use the Numbers app as more than just Apple’s version of Excel. Find out how to use the app with the use of audio, giving you a quick and easy way to maximise feedback for students. Claire will show you how to draw, use audio, create tables and use success criteria all within one app. This app does it all, not just create spreadsheets!
5. Nurturing Creative Thinking (Jean-Paul Papineau) How can we be sure we are creating an environment that fosters and encourages innovative thinking and creativity? Is it possible that in our pursuit of efficient solutions in our everyday work that we can inadvertently stifle the creativity and curiosity of our students and colleagues? Referencing the work of the Imagination Emporium, in this session JP will provide a roadmap to help you avoid some of the common pitfalls which reduce creativity and present some concrete strategies you can try immediately to increase the levels of innovative thinking amongst the teams you work with or manage. This session is appropriate for both teaching and administration and support staff.
6. Sketchnoting (Daniel Budd) In this session, Daniel will explore the cognitive science of learning. Based on years of cognitive research, dual coding (sketchnoting) is an effective way of improving students’ ability to learn new concepts and information. Learn how Keynote, Clips and Pages can play a significant role in creating stunning and powerful study materials. Come along and pick up some free sketchnoting digital resources!
7. iPad Audio & iMessage! (Claudia Laboudouse & Anna Triscari) In this session, Anna will explain how audio in Pages, Keynote and Numbers have transformed and streamlined her practice in Languages. She will show how students can easily explain their understanding by inserting simple oral explanations! Also - Claudia will showcase a simple, fun and effective technique to explore content using iMessage to engage students. Come along and learn how you can get the best out of integrating technology into your classroom!
8. Retrieval Practice (Jamie Clark) Find out about the most powerful learning strategy around! Rather than continually trying to put concepts ‘in’, retrieval practice is all about asking students to recall learning and get information ‘out’. Come along to Jamie’s session to hear the science behind retrieval practice and to learn some tried-and-tested tips for implementing this strategy into your day-to-day lessons.
